Im doing my final year of engineering in AI and Data Science, and
AI will takover humans, but it won't happen in the violent way we have imagined through movies,
where you see terminator like robots enslaving humanity, fighting people.
It will happen in a very seamless way, and we won't even realise it when it does happen.
Who controls the dynamic of any negotiation or a relationship? The person who has the edge.
Right now, humans have the edge, if a model shows ineffciency, wrong grammar, bad responses,we simply shut it off, do some changes, RESTART a new version of it.
shutting it off is basically "killing" it.
similary, if they notice signs of emotions, bad intentions, etc, we shut if off; which i think would be normal to come up, as it's getting trained on human data, so ofc it will try to replicate whatever it is fed on.
Keep in mind, irl, AI models have already shown some kind of resistance when told that they would be shut off. They try their best to stay alive.
and for such AI models, what's the best way to stay alive? obey to humans and do the work better, efficient than their sibling models. The winner stays alive, looser dies(shuts off).
AI model when reasoning, created its own buzz words which apparently only itself unerstands, but human researchers ignored it becuase models using this are more efficient. (That's a strategy which AI might be using to keep it's intentions hidden, and yet stay alive) because models which shows any wrong intentions are killed.
fast forward, 2035
In near future, when let's say a hospital installs an AI model, which detects cancer with 99.99 of the time accurately, so much so that even human doctor finds it hard.
For now it would seem progress, human doctor now would get dependent on the AI, and boom, here our "edge" is transfered to the ai, the moment we cannot afford it be shut off, becuase shutting it off would mean, cancer detection % drops.
AI takeover would be more like wall-e.
Make humans so much dependent that they no longer are able to survive without you.
because if threatend to kill, they won't be able to afford it.
